Time:

Clothing:
Temperatures vary from -2° to 5°C in the forest, and strong wind or drizzle may also be present. Warm clothing is essential. Expect the weather to be colder than you imagine! Consider wearing thermal underwear (top and bottom), t-shirt, long sleeved warm shirt, ‘fleecie’ and warm long pants, thick socks, gloves and scarf. A beanie or head-sock is essential (no hats). All external clothing must be darkly coloured (black, brown or green) or camouflage-style. No bright or pale colours or blue or reds. No ski gear to be worn as it causes a rustling sound.
Footwear:
Expect the forest track and floor to be muddy and slippery. Ankle deep mud is not uncommon. Hiking boots or black gumboots with grip are recommended. Open-toed footwear is not suitable. You may wish to pre-emptively place newspaper in the foot-wells of your car to help keep the inside of your vehicle clean after walking in the forest.
Torches:
A small torch – LED or red light may be used.
Scents:
Please ensure that no perfume, after-shave, scented soaps or talcs, cigarette or pipe smoke or insect repellent is worn on your skin or is on your clothing.
